Wed: Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan have married in a surprise ceremony in Palo Alto
Selain pelepasan saham perdana atau initial public offering alias IPO Facebook yang sudah ditunggu-tunggu sejak lama, di minggu ini juga terjadi peristiwa lain yang agak mengejutkan.
Pendiri Facebook Mark Zuckerberg menikahi kekasihnya, Priscilla Chan (27), dalam sebuah acara kecil yang dihadiri sekitar 100 tamu di kediaman Zuckerberg di Palo Alto, California, Amerika Serikat.
Meskipun sudah diam-diam merencanakan pernikahan selama lima bulan, pasangan ini berkata kepada tamu bahwa acara tersebut juga adalah pesta kejutan untuk merayakan kelulusan Chan dan ulang tahun Zuckerberg.
Para tamu diberi tahu bahwa pesta tersebut diadakan dalam rangka kelulusan Chan. Mereka terkejut begitu mengetahui bahwa ternyata acara itu adalah pernikahan Chan dan Zuckerberg.
Chan lulus dari Sekolah Kedokteran University of California San Francisco pada Senin, 14 Mei lalu, bertepatan dengan tanggal ulang tahun Zuckerberg yang ke-28.
Dalam acara, Zuckerberg menyerahkan cincin kimpoi dari ruby yang dirancangnya sendiri. Foto-foto pernikahan juga sudah di-upload ke akun Facebook miliknya.
Dua sejoli ini pertama kali bertemu di Harvard dan sudah berpacaran selama lebih dari 9 tahun. Pernikahan mereka seakan melengkapi rangkaian peristiwa bahagia bagi Zuckerberg dan Chan yang terjadi minggu ini.
Pemilihan tanggal pernikahan ini tidak terkait dengan IPO yang merupakan "target bergerak" dari perusahaan Facebook.
