Being pushed for a 2014 release, the upcoming Need for Speed flick is to enter production early next year with Scott Waugh to direct the movie that has been penned by Real Steal writers George and John Gatins around the premise of the NFS gaming releases.
Described as "a fast-paced, high-octane film rooted in the tradition of the great car culture films of the 70s,” the Need for Speed movie is said to be “extremely faithful to the spirit of the video game franchise.”
Speaking on the upcoming flick iconic director and DreamWorks chairman Steven Spielberg said: "I'm excited about getting back into the creative trenches with John and George Gatins and my partners at EA to bring to life an exhilarating script based on an epic video game that seems to have been made for the movies.”
News of the upcoming Need for Speed movie comes just weeks after EA unveiled the Criterion developed addition for the gaming series that will touch down later this year as a remake of the Need for Speed Most Wanted classic.
