Kuo told investors: “We expect iPhone 5 to feature a 4.08-inch in-cell IPS panel screen with a display resolution of 1,136 x 640 and 500-nit brightness.”
The KGI business wonk claims that Apple has categorically ruled out a screen size of 4.3-inches, which would bring the phone in line with its top-end Android rivals, on the grounds that it contravenes the company’s usability and design principles.
The aspect ratio mooted for the phone chimes with earlier indications from the Apple rumour mill and is thought to be aimed in part at ensuring widescreen video playback is optimised.
Tech types forecast that the extra screen space will be accommodated by a taller form factor that will also allow room for a larger battery and a brawnier processor.
